DRESSING FOR REAL CAREER SUCCESS
While there are many things that you can do to get yourself in gear to achieve career success, one of the easiest yet most integral things are improving the way you look.

It doesn’t matter where you work or what you do, a major part of moving your career in the right direction is having the right image.

You need to dress for success. When dressing for career success it is important to note that every workplace is different.
Always Dress Appropriately
One of the most important things that you can do to dress for real career success is to follow your organizations dress code and dress appropriately. This means not wearing tight or revealing clothes or clothes that are culturally insensitive or that have messages that can be deemed offensive.
Dress One Step Ahead
A powerful way to achieve career success is to dress for the career you want, not for the career you are currently in. One way to do this is to try and dress at least one step ahead of where you are. For example, if your work environment is “business casual” try to dress things up a bit with a nice blazer.

Keep Your Customers In Mind
There are millions of customer-facing employees including but not limited to hospitality, direct sales, retail, or service technicians. If you have the privilege of being one of these workers then when it comes to dressing for success you need to make sure that you dress according to your customers tastes and comfort level. This may mean covering up tattoos, styling your hair differently, or going clean shaven.

Don’t Neglect the Details
A key aspect of dressing for career success is to pay attention to the details. This means that you should set yourself apart by thinking about the small things that can have a huge impact. For example, clothes that are well-fitting and tailored can make you look slimmer and more polished.

Also, while the right accessories can “make” a look, over accessorizing can “break” a look! So, keep things like rings, earrings, necklaces, etc. to a minimum.
